About Me

Hi, I'm Haris. I'm a Fractional CFO for 10-50 person teams. My expertise is in the building and maintaining of Decision-Ready Finance systems: models, operating rhythms, and board narratives that prevent surprises instead of explaining them.

I work with teams who are facing:

  • Board meetings where they can't answer scenario questions without 2 days of modeling

  • Runway calculations they can't articulate with confidence

  • Hiring decisions made without clear cash impact visibility

  • The list goes on…

My clients go from reactive finance (explaining what happened) to Decision-Ready Finance (modeling what breaks before it does).

My Framework: Decision-Ready Finance

Most business leaders treat finance as backward-looking compliance or quarterly retrospectives. I build systems with three layers that work together:

1) Engine: Driver-based models, 13-week rolling cash forecasts, scenario planning (base/conservative/stretch)

2) Rhythm: Operating cadence that forces decisions—weekly performance reviews, monthly strategic deep dives, quarterly planning

3) Story: Board narratives using the 5-part structure: State, Delta, Trajectory, Exposure, Choice

When all three layers work together, finance becomes a competitive advantage—not just a requirement.

Background

My training is both deep and broad. I started out as an investment banking analyst at William Blair before moving into FP&A and strategic finance roles at healthcare startups and nonprofits. I've built financial models for $200-800M M&A transactions, analyzed digital health investments at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts, built the GTM playbook at Zus Health (healthcare data interoperability), and led FP&A at Boulder Care (addiction treatment telehealth), and Kannact (virtual chronic care management).

I use frameworks from that background to help clients make sense of complex cost structures, design incentive-aligned KPI systems, and marry operations with financial planning.

I have additional domain expertise in healthcare—where I've built models around payer mix, value-based care, clinic expansion, and reimbursement dynamics. I understand the unique financial challenges of navigating value-based contracts, clinical ROI, and population health economics—and I translate that into board-ready narratives that secure funding and guide scaling decisions. But the Decision-Ready Finance framework works for any organization dealing with board pressure, hiring decisions that affect runway, and scenario planning needs.

When I'm not building models or teaching dashboards, you'll find me on the tennis court, exploring Chicago's food scene, or walking the lakefront with my partner, Jess.
